Nikola Tesla is the original mad scientist, inventor and improver of countless things, including AC electricity, the electric motor, and radio. He once built a mountaintop laboratory to experiment in controlling lightning--and almost succeeded, until he burnt out the town's power plant. Also designed a death ray which, he theorized, would allow him to write his name on the surface of Mars.

Tesla is a tall man (over six feet), and very thin (the result of forgetting to eat, as well as frequent financial troubles), and speaks with a noticeable Serbian accent. He has dark hair and eyes, and later in life, a neatly trimmed mustache. In his youth, he is handsome, and well into his old age he is still quite striking. His clothes are proper Victorian suits, threadbare but immaculately clean and pressed.

He is a dreamer, no question about it--gifted with a photographic memory, and able to visualize new inventions fully formed in his mind--which leads to a certain social awkwardness. He has a love of showmanship, and enjoys dramatic public presentations of his latest inventions, and yet when called on to mingle at parties, he is aloof. Germphobic, obsessive-compulsive, and pacifist, he prefers the company of his beloved pigeons to that of most humans.

Nikola Tesla is from The Invention of Everything Else by Samantha Hunt (pre-"death") and the Callahan's Crosstime Saloon series by Spider Robinson (post-"death"), and is the property of those authors (and himself, of course.
